Pasieczny’s two works for solo guitar:  “Threnody of The Victims of Bełżec” and “Sequenza” got 2nd and 3rd prize during the IIIrd International Composition Competition “Claxica” in Italy (among 42 different compositions).

Among 83 composers ,120 submitted works from 12 different countries Pasieczny’s “SEQUENZA” for solo guitar got 2nd prize. Pasieczny was the only non-American composer awarded this year at this International Composition Competition.

Marek’s latest composition “Four Pieces” for violin and piano won FIRST PRIZE at the Grumo Festival Call for Scores 2011!  The winning workwill be performed at the Grumo Festival on July 1, 2011. This work is dedicated to Japanese artist, teacher, lecturer and concert organizer Angie Masako Kitagawa.

“Kikuidataki is the name of the smallest Bird in Japan and the World’s smallest hummingbird of its kind. The native script is “King birds”. Kikuidataki is characterized by its yellow crown crest. I strived to capture and imitate its movements through sonoristic and colouristic effects. In depicting the Japanese impression, the main melody was inspired and based on the Japanese melody “Itsuki no komuriuta” (Lullaby of Itsuki).
